The spark plug gap of the chain saw deviates from the standard value of 0.6-0.8mm. How to adjust it?

1. Preparation tools
Spark plug gap gauge (feeler gauge), small slotted screwdriver, needle nose pliers, rag
2. Remove the spark plug
Turn off the chain saw to cool down, and remove the high-pressure cap of the spark plug;
Use a spark plug sleeve to unscrew the spark plug and wipe off the carbon and oil on the electrode surface.
3. Measure the original gap
Insert the 0.6~0.8mm feeler gauge piece between the center electrode and the side electrode:
Can pass through easily without lag: the gap is too large
Can’t fit it in: the gap is too small
4. Adjust the gap
The gap is too large: Use needle-nose pliers to gently press the side electrode (ground bend electrode) inward to slowly narrow the gap. Do not break the center electrode, which may easily cause electrode breakage and internal insulation damage.
The gap is too small: Insert a flat-blade screwdriver into the gap between the side electrodes, and gently pry the side electrodes outward to expand the gap.
Repeatedly measure with a feeler gauge until the feeler gauge is just slightly stuck at about 0.7mm, which is the optimal standard gap.
5. Inspection and reinstallation
After adjustment, confirm that the electrode is not cracked or deformed;
Clean the threads, screw in the spark plug with bare hands, and then tighten it with a sleeve 1/4 turn to seal;
Fasten the high voltage cap and start the test.
